WW1, 1916 Dated, Imperial German, Pattern 98/05 Matching Numbers Butcher Bayonet by Ferdinand Schleutermann. BAYO 376 -. BAYO 376 This is a nice Imperial German WW1, 1916 dated pattern 98/05 butcher bayonet in its original matching numbers steel scabbard The bayonet has the correct 9 groove wooden grips which are in good condition and are secured with two original screw bolts. The steel blade is crisply marked on the ricasso by the manufacturer STAHLBLUME an angel monogram FERD SCHLEUTERMANN REMSCHEID-HASTEN. The spine of the blade is stamped with the crown over W16 (1916 date) and an inspection stamp. The pommel is marked with 1 inspection stamps. The clean blade measures 14 3/8 inches long with an overall length of 19 3/4 inches. The quillon is stamped with the bayonet number 91 which is stamped on the throat of the original matching steel scabbard is in excellent condition. British L3A1 Bayonet Scabbard and Frog for the SA80 Rifle. BAYO 367 -. BAYO 367 This is an excellent L3A1 bayonet which was introduced in 1985 to fit the new SA80 service rifle. The L3A1 socket bayonet is based on the FN FAL Type C socket bayonet with a clip-point blade. The bayonet has a hollow handle that fits over the SA80/L85 rifle's muzzle and slots that lined up with those on the flash eliminator. The blade is offset to the side of the handle to allow the bullet to pass beside the blade. The bayonet can also be used as a multi-purpose knife and wire-cutter when combined with its scabbard. The scabbard also has folding saw blade. The use of contemporary bayonets by the British army was noted during the Afghanistan war in 2004. It was an innovative design incorporating many new features. The scabbard is made of Phonolite plastic and is contained in its green canvas sheath with belt loops and belt retaining hook fixings. German Mauser M84/98 2nd Model Bayonet by Richard Abr. Herder, Solingen and Scabbard with Leather Frog. 22184:1. -. 22184:1 The M84/98 German bayonet 2nd model (The first pattern of S84/98 or M1884/98 bayonet was the 1871/1884 bayonet adapted so it could be used on the Gewehr 98. This was replaced in service by the 1898/05 bayonet. However, during World War I the S84/98 began to be produced again under the designation S84/98 II. The German Imperial Army used this bayonet in World War I as a way of conserving scarce resources The S84/98 III was production of the S84/98 bayonet during the late Weimar period and during the time of Nazi Germany. The hilt has clean wooden grips held to the tang with two screw bolts. The pommel has a mortise slot and locking bolt which secures it to the rifle nose cap The crossguard has no quillon or muzzle ring. The single edged spear point blade has a fuller on each side for about 180 mm. The riccasso has ‘clc 44’ (indicates production by Richard Abr. Herder, Solingen) ‘D2853’ to either side. The scabbard is metal with waffenampt stamp and leather frog. See page 128 No 283 of Watts & White for reference. A very good example for the collector, the price includes UK delivery. 22184:1. *Scarce* U.S M7 Bayonet & M8A1 Sheath by Manufacturer Colt for the M16 Rifle. 22233. -. 22233 The M7 bayonet is a bayonet that was used by the U.S. military for the M16 rifle (The M16 rifle (officially designated Rifle, Caliber 5.56 mm, M16) is a family of assault rifles adapted from the ArmaLite AR-15 rifle for the United States military. The original M16 rifle was a 5.56×45mm automatic rifle with a 20-round magazine) it can also be used with the M4 carbine as well as many other assault rifles, carbines, and combat shotguns. It can be used as a fighting knife and utility tool. It was introduced in 1964, when the M16 rifle entered service during the Vietnam War. The M7 bayonet is very similar to the older M4 bayonet with the Korean War era plastic grips for the M1/M2 carbines except that the M7 has a much larger muzzle ring. The M7 has the same two-lever locking mechanism as the M4, that connects to a lug on the M16 rifle's barrel. The M4 (M1/M2 carbine), M5 (M1 rifle), and M6 bayonet (M14 rifle), are all derived from the World War II M3 fighting knife. The blade has markings of the Colt horse logo with the words Colt's 62316 Hartford Conn. U.S.A. and is in near perfect condition. The M8A1 scabbard has the early green crackle finish and is marked USM8A1 on the metal throat, again in near perfect condition. The price includes UK delivery. 22233.

British Wilkinson 1888 Pattern Mk I, 2nd Type, Lee Metford Bayonet and Scabbard BAYO 454. -. BAYO 454 This is a Lee Metford, 1888 Mk I 2nd type bayonet manufactured for the British .303 calibre Enfield, Lee Metford Rifle. The bayonets 12-inch double edged blade is unfullered with a medial ridge running from the ricasso to the blade tip. The ricasso of the blade is marked WILKINSON LONDON ‘10’ 91 (manufacture October 1891) and various other inspection stamps. The other side carries an arrow over W.D. and an inspection stamp. The grips are made of wood, held together with two brass rivets and there is an inspection stamp on each one. There is an oil clearance hole behind the top rivet and the grips are in good order. The pommel has inspection stamps and ‘5 CH’. The number 684 is on the top of the scabbard mouthpiece which is a standard 1888 Mk I. See Watts & White No 802 on page 387 for reference. *Rare* German Made Model 1895 Chilean Mauser Bayonet with Scabbard and Frog. BAYO 400. -. BAYO 400 Here is a rare bayonet used by the Boer forces. It is also known as the Chilean Mauser bayonet, simply because most of these bayonets never made it into the ZAR. The Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek’s port (Lourenco Marques, now Maputo in Mozambique – former Greek colony) was blockaded by the British fleet and consequently the consignment was sent to Chile. A good, untouched example of a Model 1895 Chilean Mauser Bayonet, for use on the 7mm Mauser Rifle. These bayonets were produced from 1895–1901. This example was made under contract by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co of Solingen, Germany (Weyersberg, Kirschbaum, and Cie. was founded in 1883 with the merger of two family-owned sword manufacturing and marketing companies in Solingen, Germany: Gebruder Weyersberg, founded by Wilhem, Peter and Johann Ludwig Weyersberg in 1787 and WR Kirschbaum & Cie, founded by Wilhem Reinhordt Kirschbaum. The newly founded company used traditional techniques for sword making and each of their then employees specialised in one task in the sword making process. This was in accordance to the Division of Labour act devised by the Sword makers Guild of Soligen). The fullered blade is marked WEYERSBURG KIRSCHBAUM & Co SOLINGEN to one side with the three intertwined circles on the ricasso which are the trademark of the famous steelworks, Krupp (pronounced 'Kroop'), who supplied the blade steel. The three rings symbolized the Radreifen—the seamless railway wheels patented in 1851 by Alfred Krupp. At the turn of the Century, when these bayonets were made, Krupp was the largest company in Europe, and Chilean crest. The blade length is 25cm (37 ¼ cm overall). The wooden grips are held with two pins are showing signs of age and use but are solid. The steel scabbard has ‘E6134’ to the frog stud. Australian Owen Mk I Sub Machine Gun 1907 Pattern Bayonet with Lithgow Marked Blade and No. 1 Scabbard. 22534:6. -. 22534:6 The Owen Mk I bayonet was introduced in 1944 along with Owen Mk I/I, although the I/I model was at first known as the Mk II. The Mk I is merely the No I (Patt. 1907) with a newly made 10” blade, having a fuller of only 5”. The wartime Owen bayonets were made at Orange, therefore the OA mark. More of the Owens were produced at Lithgow in 1953 and these have the MA mark such as this one. The ricasso is stamped with inspection marks and ‘MA’ and on the other side with a Broad arrow and ’53’ (1953). The blade is in excellent condition. The bayonet has a straight waisted cross guard. The slab wood grips are both intact and are secured with two screw bolts. The pommel has the push button release, which operates smoothly and clearance hole. The No 1 late scabbard has a large frog stud along with three rivets showing on the locket. Its leather is in good condition and is stamped ‘Mangrovite TD’ with a War Department Arrow. WWI Dated P1907 Bayonet with 2nd Pattern Scabbard with Brass Fittings by Wilkinson. BAYO 402. -. BAYO 402 This is a nice Wilkinson ‘1907’ bayonet that has had its quillon removed on re-furbishment. The blade is stamped ‘Crown over 1907 10’17 (dating it October 1917) and ‘Wilkinson’. The production figures for 1911 were only 32,706 at ‘Enfield’, but the bayonet was also made in large quantities by ‘Wilkinsons’ and others. In ‘1913’ it was decided to remove the quillon and all further bayonets were made without the quillon and those that came in for refurbishment had it removed, (see Skennerton item B234 & B235 PAGES 186-195). The other side of the blackened blade has a broad arrow and several inspection stamps. The grips are wood, held on by two screwbolts, and are in excellent condition. The scabbard is the 2nd pattern with a teardrop frog stud. The leatherwork is in good order as is the polished brass metalwork *minor play in throat but solidly attached* The price includes UK delivery. BAYO 402.

Original WW2 Japanese Officer's Sword Belt. ED 1039 -. ED 1039 This original WW2 Japanese Officer's 'Wide Webbing' Sword belt is in great condition. Constructed of rugged olive coloured Webbing and leather with a broad metal buckle, it measures 38" in length and is 3" wide. The belt has a leather hanger securely stitched onto the belt. The hanger has a double brass slot fitting. The ends of the belt are edged in leather. This item is clean, undamaged and has no signs of repair. All stitching and fittings are secure and intact. German WW1, 1916 Dated Model 1898/05 G98 Mauser 'Butcher Knife' Bayonet By Simson & Co., Suhl, Complete With Steel Scabbard -. BAYO 635 This is a German WW1, 1916 dated Model 1898/05 G98 Mauser 'Butcher Knife' bayonet by Simpson & Co. The ricasso is stamped SIMPSON & SON SUHL and the top of the blade is stamped W16 (1916 date) and a stylised M acceptance stamp. The hilt is stamped with two acceptance marks. The top of the grip has the later flash guard and a trimmed muzzle ring. The grips are undamaged. The bayonet is contained in its original steel scabbard carrying the mark of Fabrik Mauser-AG Obenddorf aN above an iron cross stamp. The frog is the standard German leather version. Imperial German WW1 Era Kinder (Child’s) Dress Sabre With Lion’s Head Pommel Scabbard. Sn 16199 -. 16199 This is an excellent Original Imperial German Era Kinder (Child’s) Dress Sabre With Scabbard. The sword has crossed sabres insignia on a foliate background on the langet and a plain shield reverse langet. It has a fish skin wire bound grip. The wire is tight and intact. It has flat knuckle bow and Lion’s head pommel with mane grip strap. The cross guard finial is ‘Puma’s head’ form. The sabre measures a short 30” overall and a 25” single edged, curved blade with fullers. The blade has light staining consistent with age. The ricasso has a very faint indistinct trademark obscured by one of the langets. The blade is fitted with original leather hilt washer. The sabre is complete with its original black painted steel scabbard with 2 steel hanging rings and shoe. The scabbard has no dents but the original paint has surface wear to be expected. 855 Pattern Imperial Prussian Infantry Pioneer’s Brass Hilt Short Sword Faschinenmesser (Fascine Knife) ED 2364. -. ED 2364 This is an original, 1855 Prussian Infantry Pioneers Short Sword (see page 196 of World Swords 1400-1945 By Withers). It has 1 ½” broad, 19” long, heavy single edged blade and measures 24 ¼ ” overall. It has a rugged brass handle deeply grooved for grip with ball pommel and the straight cross guard has the correct rolled ends. The cross guard is crisply marked with two crosses and a ‘7’. The ricasso of the blade is marked with an Imperial Prussian Crown & Monogram inspection mark to one side and the maker ‘P.D.L’ (P. D. Luneschloss, Solingen). The Sword is without scabbard. BAYO 799 This is a virtually mint India pattern No1 MII* with the fullers to the blade and a false edge tip, these bayonets are special to India (the MkII has a conventional tip). The blued blade is marked to the ricasso with ‘MkII* 8 43’ (August 1943) & JU (unknown maker). The wooden slab grips are in near perfect condition. The scabbard is a cut down ‘No1’ with steel mounts inspection marks and leather body, the stitching and steelwork are in good condition. The frog is a green ‘37’ pattern webbing example. **1970’s 200 YEAR ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATIVE**American Revolutionary War Wilkinson Sword London Small Sword With Etched Battle Site Names & Dates Blade. ED 2476 -. ED 2476 The American Revolutionary War (April 19, 1775 – September 3, 1783), also known as the Revolutionary War or American War of Independence, was an armed conflict that was part of the broader American Revolution, in which American Patriot forces organised as the Continental Army and commanded by George Washington fought the British Army. The conflict was fought in North America, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic Ocean. The war ended with the Treaty of Paris (1783), which resulted in Great Britain ultimately recognising the independence of the USA. In the 1970’s The English Sword makers Wilkinson Sword made swords styled on Revolutionary wars period examples to commemorate the war’s 200th Anniversary. Our commemorative example sword incorporates concepts of the American Revolution period. It is 27” overall length with a 21” long fullered steel curved blade. The blade is clean and is etched & blued at the ricasso with the Wilkinson Sword London name, crossed swords legend, ‘Made In England’ and QEII Royal Appointment. The sides of the blade below the fuller are blued & etched with Revolutionary war battle site names and dates alongside crossed swords symbols (all illustrated in the images). It has a cast gilt alloy re-curving cross guard with cast foliate decoration and grooved resin hilt which his bound with brass wire. The pommel has an acorn finial. The sword is without scabbard. French Spahis Bandolier, Frog & Bayonet -. ED 746 / 4307 This is the bandolier worn by Spahis, the French North African light cavalry, recruited from Algeria and Morocco when both countries formed part of the French Empire. The bandoliers passed over each shoulder, joined and were then attached to a belt by strap and buckle. At the join is a frog containing an excellent example of a French 1886/93/16 Epee bayonet for the WW1 Lebel Rifle. It has a brass hilt and no quillon and a 20.5" cruciform blade. In its steel scabbard and all in great condition. The bayonet was worn across the chest. The leather used was dyed dark red. The bandolier has 5 pockets for ammunition. the buckle and compartment studs are brass.

A Good And Most Interesting Tuareg Nomadic Berber Sword From The Western African Regions To North Africa. These are highly interesting swords of the nomadic Berber, and are known for their most attractive decorative features. All patterned tooled leather hilt mounts, scabbard and fittings. Long principle sword with three smaller companion daggers fitted into recessed sheaths on the scabbard. Blades decoratively engraved throughout. It is a style of sword traditionally associated with the Tuareg, a nomadic people predominantly of Berber origin. The Tuareg long dominated the central and west-central areas of the Sahara desert, including portions of what is now Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, and Morocco, and had a reputation as effective warriors and as highwaymen. Broad blade. The sword has a straight crossguard with flattened grip and the whole form is based around the Crusader's swords that were captured in the region in the 12th to 14th centuries. This sword is late 19th century or later in good overall condition. Not only an iconic sword of the Berber warrior nomads but a highly attractive decorative piece for display. Canadian WW1 Ross Mk II Bayonet And Scabbard -. BAYO 616 This is a nice Mk II Ross bayonet with a modified blade profile. This modification was authorised in October 1915 to give better penetration over the more rounded original blade shape tip. The pommel carries the Canadian Government ownership mark of an arrow within a Capital C, the Ross factory inspection mark of a crown over 4 and the date of manufacture 11 over 2/17 (February 1917 date). The other side carries Ross Rifle Co. Quebec Patented 1907. One of the grips carries the Ross factory inspection mark. The spine of the tang also carries 2 Ross factory inspection stamps. The scabbard is the Mk II version with a wider belt loop and internal locket and chape. See Skennerton Item C7 on pages 300 – 304.The price includes UK delivery. BAYO 616

Austrian M1895 Mannlicher Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 786. -. BAYO 786 This is a nice other ranks M1895 Mannlicher bayonet (The Mannlicher M1895 is a straight pull bolt-action rifle, designed by Ferdinand Ritter von Mannlicher that used a refined version of his revolutionary straight-pull action bolt, much like the Mannlicher M1890 carbine). The blade is marked with inspection stamps. The blade is 9 ¾” (14” overall) in length and has rounded fullers. The cross guard is secured by 2 rivets and has ’15 01’ etched to it with a small muzzle ring, the grips are wood secured by domed rivets and the pommel is steel. The scabbard is steel with a brazed frog stud, with ‘V & N’ (Vogel & Noot) imprinted on the frog stud. French 1868 Dated Model 1866 Chassepot Yataghan Sword Bayonet By St Etienne Arsenal, Blade Manufactured By Alex Coppel, Germany With Brass Grip & Steel Scabbard -. BAYO 619 This is an original French model 1866 Chassepot sword bayonet (See pages 70 and 71 of ‘An Illustrated History Of Bayonets’ by Brayley). The steel fullered single edged ‘T’ back Yataghan blade has staining consistent with age and is 22 ¾” length. The blade of the bayonet is stamped with the German makers trademark of Alex Coppel and the bayonet carries more than the usual inspection stamps. The back of the blade is marked with the name of the French Arsenal St Etienne and is dated 7th February 1872 in French. The bayonet has the correct steel hooked quillon with muzzle ring. The bayonet has a ribbed brass grip with flat spring and steel push button. The blade has small inspection marks. The cross guard is stamped X 9482 on the quillion. The bayonet is complete with the correct steel scabbard and is stamped 90986 near the throat. The scabbard has no dents and has its original fixed strap bar. Desk Top German Miniature K98 Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 2616. -. BAYO 2616 This is a miniature version of the KS98 Dress Bayonet and has a 14 cm (22 cm overall) fullered polished steel blade inscribe ‘N.V T.R.A.M.- Dir. H.J.Roelffzen’. A missing quillon, wooden chequered grips and a stylised Birds head pommel. The scabbard is black painted steel but with no frog stud which would suggest use as a desk paper knife. U.S. M1 Bayonet and Scabbard for the Garand Rifle By U.F.H. (Union Fork and Hoe). BAYO 2618 -. BAYO 2618 This is an M1 bayonet with new made blade by U.F.H. (Union Fork and Hoe) U.S. and has the Flaming Grenade (Frankford Arsenal). The grips are plastic and are held to the bayonet by one screw bolt. The fullers on the blade do not go down to the tip, stopping 2 ¾ inches from the tip. The blade is in very good order and is showing signs of service wear. The bayonet is stamped on the ricasso with U.F.H. (Union Fork and Hoe) U.S. and has the Flaming Grenade (Frankford Arsenal). The bayonet is carried in its near mint composite olive green plastic scabbard with a steel mouthpiece on which is stamped the U.S. flaming grenade. The bayonet is virtually identical to the one shown as in item 929 on pages 412 and 436 in The Bayonet Book by White and Watts. The price includes UK delivery. BAYO 2618.

Spanish ‘M1893’ Sword Bayonet with Chequered Grips and Scabbard. BAYO 2623. -. BAYO 2623 The 7mm Mauser short rifle was equipped with a sword bayonet (M1893). It has wooden grips which have been chequered and they are secured by two screw bolts. It is believed that this bayonet was originally intended for artillery units but it was widely used on the ‘M1916’ short rifle during the Civil War. Measuring 52 cm overall (blade: 39 ½ cm). This one carries the legend ARTILLERIA FCA NACIONAL TOLEDO around a pair of crossed cannons., it is unusual to find this stamp on the blade as many were unmarked. The cross guard carries ‘4124’ and the blade ‘18’. The blade appears to have been re sharpened. The scabbard is steel mounted black leather, the stitching is all intact. WWII 1918 Dated 1907 Pattern British ‘Wilkinson’ Regimentally Stamped Bayonet and No1 MkII Double Seamed Leather Scabbard. BAYO 6283. -. BAYO 6283 An excellent British, World War dated example of the Pattern 1907 bayonet for the SMLE rifle complete with scabbard. The ricasso of the bayonet is stamped by the manufacturer ' Wilkinson', '1907 Within Shield' (Pattern) and '3/18 ' (March 1918), the pommel with’2.S’ The reverse is stamped with '1907' Wilkinson and inspection marks. The blade is in good clean condition and it's wood grips are undamaged and perfectly secure. It is complete with a nice ‘No1 MkII’ steel mounted double seamed brown leather Scabbard. British ‘L1A3’ Bayonet Scabbard and Frog. 20112 -. 20112 This is a British L1A3 bayonet, scabbard and frog (see Skennerton’s book, British & Commonwealth Bayonets Book, pages 261 – B322). The bayonet was first adopted on the 31st December 1958. On this example the grips carry the designation ‘L1A3 9600257’ and the blade ricasso carries the number ‘F58’ denoting manufacture in 1958. It has the early waisted crossguard and the pommel carries the number ‘113’. The No5 MkII scabbard with brass mouth piece retains its black paint and has no major marks. American U.S. M1 Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 270. -. BAYO 270 This is an M1 bayonet that has been cut down from a ‘M1905/M1942’ bayonet. This occurred from August 1942 when it was decided that the ‘M1905 & M1924’ bayonets were too long, especially for jungle fighting. The difference between a converted ‘M1 and a newly made one is that on a converted bayonet the fullers run through to the tip as in this example. The blade is marked ‘U.C.’ (Utica Cutlery, New York) over ‘U.S.’ a flaming grenade and 1943. This example is a late production ‘M1942’ as Utica Cutlery were still making them in 1942/43 even after the new bladed shorter ‘M1’ bayonets were put into production. Its newly made ‘M7’ scabbard of olive green plastic and top mount with U.S. within flaming grenade. See ‘An Illustrated History of Bayonets’ by Martin J. Brayley pages 230 to 242.
